Week 8 - Get Visual - Let the Picture Tell the Story

Discuss [on your blog]:   Read the lecture and the blog posts. The visual networks - are they right for you and your brand? Compare the 4 most widely used visual platforms. Which would work the best for your product or service?

1. YouTube: 490 million users
2. Instagram: 80 million users
3. Tumblr: 50 million users
4. Pinterest: 11 million users

Not sure: Other than Google, Facebook and perhaps Twitter and Blogs being the only social media vehicles I would use to promote my business, I wasn't quite sure which of the 4 most widely used (see above) visual platforms would work for my type of business of new business lead generation.

Now I'm really not sure: And as I was checking other business list provider sites my thinking were confirmed after several searches.  Some had Google, Facebook, Twitter mentioned.  Some had nothing going on with social media.  InfoUSA, one of the biggest if not the biggest list provider in the country was of no help.  They had links to Facebook, Twitter, Google+ but I was not able to access unless I link in with them.  Didn't want to link with my business profile just yet.

I think I'm sure: Was beginning to think nobody was on the other sites till I came across Experian, Zoho CRM, Hoovers, and InfoFree with the most in 7 categories.  Now these are very large firms and I have yet to find anybody small with a social media presence.  What I've found so far is great info to pick apart but would like to find somebody small like me.  I'll just keep looking.  Till then I'll try to learn what I can from what I've found so far.

Ok, pretty sure now: After looking closer and comparing, I see that social media seem to be working well, at least for these large companies. Below are the companies with active social media presence along with some stats (click light and dark blue links to see each social media site per business) on how well they're been performing with follows and likes. And for each company I see some of the same content appearing in multiple social media spaces which reinforces their messaging.

Top social sites to be on: So according to the numbers of what I've found so far from the companies listed below, and besides the obvious of being on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Blogs, these two are the visual social media sites I need to promote my line of business in which are YouTube and Pinterest.

Discuss [on your blog]: Find examples of 2 or 3 business that are similar to yours. See what visual social media they are using and how they are using it.  Is it effective?

Choose one or more of the visual platforms and start a business account. Link it to your Business Facebook page.

For similar businesses see the 5 that was compared per social media site above.
